What a well-run turf drop looks like

Best Turf Delivery Means Fresh Rolls and Forklift Drop-Off

You can usually tell a good delivery within minutes of the truck pulling up. The turf is moist and green, the rolls hold together, and the pallets end up near the lawn area instead of the kerb. Nothing is left behind for you to clean up.

That standard comes from how we work. We grow our own turf, cut it to suit your delivery day and load it straight onto trucks fitted with forklifts. The driver places each pallet where access allows, then loads the empties back on. You’re left with fresh turf, a clear site and laying notes to follow.

In short: Arrow Turf is a family-owned grower on the Hawkesbury River delivering fresh turf six days a week. Our trucks carry forklifts for close placement and remove the pallets afterwards. Price depends on variety, square metres, distance and access, and turf is cut to order and usually ready within a day or two.

Judging Delivery Quality

How to Recognise the Best Turf Delivery

Turf is at its best in the first hours after harvest, so the way it’s cut, carried and set down matters as much as the grass itself. Rolls that sit too long on pallets can yellow and dry out, and pallets dropped on the footpath mean hauling heavy turf across the yard by hand. For anyone laying their own lawn, those details decide whether the job takes an afternoon or a whole weekend. A good delivery removes most of that effort before you’ve even started.

We judge our own deliveries by three things: freshness, placement and cleanup. Your order is harvested to suit your delivery date rather than pulled from a stockpile, then trucked out with a forklift on board so pallets can be lowered close to the lawn. Empty pallets go back on the truck and you receive simple laying and watering advice with every order. Find out where we deliver through our full turf delivery service in Sydney.

What the Best Turf Delivery Should Include

  • Turf cut fresh for your delivery day: we harvest your order to suit your delivery date.
  • Forklift placement on site: our trucks carry forklifts, so pallets are set down close to where you’ll lay.
  • Pallet recovery: empty pallets are taken away once your turf is unloaded.
  • Delivery six days a week: choose a day that suits you, your builder or your landscaper.
  • Variety and quantity advice: we’ll help you pick the right turf and confirm how much to order.
  • Laying and watering guidance: simple instructions on soil prep, laying and watering come with every delivery.
Delivery Shortfalls

Stale Turf, Kerbside Drops and Leftover Pallets: Problems We Avoid

A disappointing delivery usually fails on one of three points. Here’s how each one affects your lawn and how we prevent it. All three are easy to avoid with the right systems in place, and none of them should be your problem.

Turf that’s been sitting too long. Rolls left stacked for days can heat up, yellow and lose moisture, which slows root growth once laid. We cut your order to match the delivery day so the turf reaches you as fresh as possible.

Pallets left at the kerb. Each square metre of fresh turf weighs roughly 15 to 20 kg, so carrying a full pallet’s worth across a yard is exhausting. Our forklift-equipped trucks place pallets close to where you’ll be laying.

Mess left after the truck goes. Empty pallets and loose soil are an unwelcome extra job. Our trucks carry out pallet recovery, so the empties leave with the driver once your turf is unloaded.

Value Versus Price

How Much Does the Best Turf Delivery Cost?

Better delivery doesn’t have to mean a complicated quote. What you pay is set by the variety, the number of square metres, the distance from our farm and how easily the truck can reach your drop point. Forklift placement and pallet recovery are part of how we deliver.

Price driver How it affects your cost
Turf variety Kikuyu is the most budget-friendly; soft leaf buffalo and premium couch cost more per m².
Order size Turf is priced per square metre, and larger orders can attract better rates.
Delivery location and access Distance from our farm and how easily the truck can reach your drop point.
Extras Turf underlay, lawn starter fertiliser or water crystals added to your load.

Freshness at the Source

Why Freshness Starts on Our Hawkesbury Farm

Every roll we deliver is grown at 104 Cornwallis Road, Cornwallis, on our family farm beside the Hawkesbury River. Owning the paddocks means we decide when your turf is harvested, rather than buying it in and waiting for the next truck.

We cut each order to suit its delivery day, load it onto pallets and dispatch it with a forklift on the truck. That short path from paddock to property is a big part of why the turf arrives in good condition. Our trucks reach homes and sites across Greater Sydney and the surrounding regions, and pickup from the farm is available too. If you have a trailer or ute, ask us whether collecting from the farm suits your order.

How We Deliver Fresh Turf to Your Door

The best deliveries feel easy because the hard parts are planned in advance. These four steps show what happens between your first call and the moment the empty pallets leave.

1. Measure and choose: measure your lawn area and choose a variety, or ask us for advice.

2. Book your delivery: call or order online and pick a delivery day.

3. We cut and deliver: your turf is harvested fresh and placed by forklift where you need it.

4. Lay and water: lay the turf on the day it arrives and water it in; we take the pallets away.

Getting the Most From a Quality Delivery

Even the freshest delivery needs a little help on the day to give you the best possible lawn, so keep these four tips in mind.

Laying later than delivery day. The best result comes from laying the turf the same day it’s delivered. Have the ground prepared and allow enough time to lay every roll before evening.

Gaps between rolls. Butt the edges together tightly and stagger the joins like brickwork. This helps the lawn knit together and reduces drying at the seams. Use a sharp knife or spade to trim rolls neatly around edges and paths.

Skimping on early watering. For about the first three weeks, water the new lawn deeply once or twice daily. Lift a corner now and then to check moisture is reaching the soil beneath.

Cutting the new lawn prematurely. Leave the first mow for two to three weeks, and keep the mower on a high setting. Cutting too short too soon can stress roots that are still taking hold.

Frequently Asked Questions About the Best Turf Delivery

What makes the best turf delivery?

The best turf delivery brings freshly cut rolls, places the pallets close to your lawn area and leaves no mess behind. We harvest your order to suit your delivery day, use trucks fitted with forklifts and take the empty pallets away once you’re unloaded.

How can I tell if turf is fresh when it arrives?

Fresh turf should be moist, green and hold together when you lift a roll, with soil firmly attached to the roots. Yellowing, a warm feel in the middle of the stack or crumbling soil can be signs it has been sitting too long.

Where on my property will the pallets be placed?

Our trucks carry forklifts, so we can usually set pallets down close to where you’ll lay, such as a driveway or the edge of the lawn area. Let us know about gates, slopes or soft ground when booking so we can plan the best spot.

Is forklift placement part of your best turf delivery?

Yes. Forklift placement and pallet recovery are part of how we deliver every order, so you don’t need to ask for them separately. Delivery cost depends mainly on distance from our farm and access to your drop point.

What should I have ready on delivery day?

Have the old lawn removed, the ground levelled and turf underlay spread, plus a hose or sprinkler on hand. You can also read our turf care guide for watering and mowing advice in the weeks after laying.

Can I choose which day my turf is delivered?

We deliver six days a week and cut your turf to suit the day you book. Choose a day when you, your landscaper or your builder can lay the turf straight away for the best result.

Which variety travels and establishes best?

All five of our varieties are cut fresh and travel well when laid on the day they arrive. The best choice depends on your yard: Kikuyu loves sun, soft leaf buffalo handles part shade, and the couches suit sunny lawns with a fine finish.

Do you provide laying instructions with the best turf delivery?

Every order comes with simple instructions on soil preparation, laying and watering. They’re part of what we consider the best turf delivery, because good aftercare in the first three weeks makes a big difference to how quickly the lawn roots in.

Trevor was fantastic from the very first time I spoke to him. He informed me on every detail , delivery time, watering/care instructions . He made sure the delivery truck didn’t park on my driveway and also marked out my block perfectly- making sure the turf layers got the job done correctly first time. Thank you so much for a truly great experience. The turf looks beautiful
