A New Lawn in a Single Day
Lawn Turf Rolls From Our Farm for an Instant Lawn
Seeding a lawn means weeks of patchy growth, birds eating the seed and keeping everyone off the soil. Lawn turf rolls skip all of that. Once they’re laid and watered in, you have a complete green surface that looks finished from day one and roots into the soil over the following weeks.
The key is starting with healthy turf. Ours is grown on our own farm, harvested only when you order and usually ready within a day or two. We’ll ask about your sun, shade and how the yard is used, then recommend one of our five varieties to suit.
In short: Arrow Turf is a family-run turf farm with more than 45 years of growing experience, supplying lawn turf rolls to homes across Greater Sydney. Pricing reflects your lawn’s size, the variety, any extras like underlay and how the turf reaches you. Rolls are harvested to order and usually ready within a day or two.

Choosing Lawn Turf Rolls That Suit Your Home
A home lawn has to work for the people who use it. Young families want something soft for bare feet, pet owners need a surface that recovers from wear, and busy households often prefer a lawn that doesn’t need mowing every few days. Sun and shade play a big role as well, because a variety that thrives in an open backyard may thin out beside a two-storey house. Picking well at the start saves years of frustration. Thinking about how the lawn will be used day to day makes that choice much easier.
That’s why we treat choosing the variety as part of the order. Sir Walter and Matilda soft leaf buffalo suit families wanting comfort, Kikuyu covers big sunny yards affordably, and our couches give a fine, manicured finish. We cut your rolls fresh and include simple advice on preparation and watering. Rolls are usually ready within a day or two of confirming your order. Browse varieties and order through our turf supply service for Sydney.

Home Lawn Problems
Muddy Yards, Weedy Lawns and Failed Seeding
Homeowners usually turn to lawn turf rolls when the current yard isn’t working. These are the situations we help with most.
Muddy yards after rain. Bare or thin patches turn to mud every time it rains, and it ends up on floors and paws. A full cover of fresh turf on proper underlay keeps soil in place and gives the family somewhere clean to play. It also makes the yard far more pleasant to use after a storm.
Lawns overrun by weeds. When weeds outnumber the grass, spot treatments rarely win. Removing the old lawn and laying dense new rolls gives weeds very little room to come back. A healthy, thick lawn is one of the best natural defences against weeds.
Seed that never filled in. Seeded lawns often end up patchy, with thin areas where birds, heavy rain or foot traffic disrupted germination. Turf rolls deliver even coverage from the start, without the long wait. There’s no need to rope off the yard while seed slowly germinates.

Lawn Roll Pricing
How Much Do Lawn Turf Rolls Cost?
The cost of lawn turf rolls comes down mainly to your lawn’s area in square metres and the variety you choose, since soft leaf buffalo and premium couch sit above Kikuyu. Underlay, starter fertiliser and whether you pick up, take delivery or book installation also affect your total.
| Price driver | How it affects your cost |
|---|---|
| Turf variety | Kikuyu is the most budget-friendly; soft leaf buffalo and premium couch cost more per m². |
| Quantity | Rolls are priced per square metre, and larger orders can attract better rates. |
| Roll format | Maxi rolls suit big areas and are quoted separately from standard rolls. |
| Pickup, delivery or installation | Collecting from our farm avoids a delivery charge; delivery and laying are quoted on top. |

3. Book your order: call or order online and choose pickup, delivery or installation.
4. Lay it fresh: lay your rolls on the day they arrive and water them in thoroughly.
Pets, Kids and Low-Maintenance Lawn Choices
How your household lives on the lawn should guide which rolls you buy.
Little ones and bare feet. Scratchy grass makes the backyard less inviting for small children. Soft leaf buffalo such as Sir Walter or Matilda is gentle underfoot and pleasant to sit on. It’s a favourite with families who spend time outdoors.
Dogs wearing down the grass. Pets running the same paths need a lawn that repairs itself. Kikuyu’s runners fill worn patches quickly, while tough buffalo varieties also recover well from everyday use. Giving worn areas a short rest also helps them recover.
Not much time for mowing. If weekends are already busy, a slower-growing soft leaf buffalo means fewer mows than fast-growing grasses. It still stays dense and attractive with regular care.
A showpiece front lawn. For a fine, manicured look that lifts street appeal, Greenlees Park couch offers a darker green colour and very fine texture, while Wintergreen couch forms a thick, even mat in full sun.
Frequently Asked Questions About Lawn Turf Rolls
How quickly can lawn turf rolls give me a usable lawn?
Lawn turf rolls give you a green, finished surface the day they’re laid. Light use is usually fine once roots have taken hold after a few weeks, and you’ll make the first mow after two to three weeks. It’s far faster than waiting for seed to germinate and fill in.
Which lawn variety is softest underfoot?
Our soft leaf buffalo varieties, Sir Walter and Matilda, are the softest options. Both have a non-scratchy leaf that’s comfortable for children, pets and bare feet. Matilda is Australian-bred with finer stems, while Sir Walter has a broad, soft leaf and handles part shade well.
What lawn suits a shaded backyard?
For yards shaded by trees, fences or neighbouring homes, Sir Walter soft leaf buffalo is a good starting point because it handles part shade better than most turf. Kikuyu and the couch varieties prefer full sun, so they’re better kept to the open, sunny parts of your yard.
Do I need underlay under lawn turf rolls?
We strongly recommend it. A layer of quality turf underlay, ideally an 80/20 mix spread around 100 to 150 mm deep, gives new roots drainage and nutrients to grow into. Laying rolls directly on compacted or clay soil makes it much harder for the lawn to establish.
Can I lay lawn turf rolls myself?
Plenty of homeowners do. Prepare and level the soil, spread underlay, then lay the rolls in a brick pattern with tight, staggered joins, and water straight away. If you’d rather not do the heavy lifting, our crew can handle the whole job from old lawn removal to watering in.
How much does a roll of lawn turf weigh?
A square metre of fresh lawn turf weighs about 15 to 20 kg, depending on how much moisture it holds. That adds up quickly across a whole lawn, so plan for help when moving it around the yard. Our delivery trucks use forklifts to place pallets close to where you’ll be laying.
How do I keep my new lawn healthy?
Water deeply once or twice a day for around three weeks, then gradually water less often but more deeply to encourage deep roots. Keep traffic light during establishment and set the mower high for the first cut. Our turf care guide has more tips, and you can compare our turf varieties.
Where can I get lawn turf rolls in Greater Sydney?
You can order lawn turf rolls directly from our family farm at Cornwallis in the Hawkesbury. Collect them yourself with help loading, or have them delivered to homes across Greater Sydney six days a week. Ordering straight from the grower means fresher rolls and expert advice on variety choice.
