Ordering Turf Made Simple
Order Matilda Turf Fresh From the Grower
Buying turf is easier when you deal directly with the people who grow it. Matilda is an Australian-bred buffalo with finer stems and stolons than older buffalo types, giving a soft, dense finish that suits most lawns. When you order with us, your rolls are harvested specifically for your job rather than pulled from a stockpile.
Tell us your measurements and timing, and we’ll recommend how much to order, how to prepare the ground and whether delivery, farm pickup or full installation makes most sense. Most orders are cut and ready within a day or two of being confirmed, so you can plan around your schedule.
In short: We’re Arrow Turf, a family-owned grower at Cornwallis with more than 45 years on the land. We sell Matilda turf for pickup, delivery or professional installation across Greater Sydney. The total depends on square metres, access, distance and preparation work, and freshly cut orders are typically ready in a day or two.

Matilda Turf Orders for Homes, Builders and Landscapers
Homeowners re-turfing a backyard, builders finishing a new house and landscapers working to a handover date all need the same thing from a turf order: the right amount, in good condition, on the right day. Getting that right matters because turf is a living product. Rolls that sit too long before laying lose vigour, and a short order can leave you with gaps and a second trip. Ordering accurately, and at the right time, saves you money, effort and frustration.
We keep ordering simple. You can order online or by phone, choose a pickup date and time or book a delivery slot, and our team will help work out quantities from your measurements. Every order is cut fresh at our Cornwallis farm, and delivered loads are placed with a truck-mounted forklift and the pallets taken away. Before you commit, take a moment to read our guide to Matilda soft leaf buffalo turf.

Common Order Mistakes
Short Orders, Late Laying and Poor Ground: Problems a Good Matilda Order Avoids
Most turf disappointments trace back to the ordering stage rather than the grass itself. These three issues come up most often, and each one is easy to avoid with a little planning before you order.
Running short on Matilda turf. Measuring roughly and rounding down is a common way to end up short. Measure each section separately in metres, multiply length by width and add a little extra for trimming around garden beds, curves and paths.
Leaving rolls unlaid too long. Turf is best laid on the day it arrives. If your ground isn’t ready, rolls left stacked in the sun can heat up and yellow, so schedule pickup or delivery for when the site is fully prepared.
Skipping soil preparation. Laying straight onto compacted or uneven ground makes it harder for new roots to take. Removing the old lawn, levelling and spreading an 80/20 underlay at around 100 to 150 mm gives Matilda a much better start.

Matilda Turf Costs
How Much Does Matilda Turf Cost?
There’s no single price for Matilda turf because every job is different. The number of square metres, whether you collect or have it delivered, how far the site is from our farm, how easy it is to unload and whether you need preparation or installation all affect your total, as outlined below.
| Price driver | How it affects your cost |
|---|---|
| Variety | Matilda soft leaf buffalo sits in our premium price range per m². |
| Lawn area | Turf is priced per square metre, and larger orders can attract better rates. |
| Pickup, delivery or installation | Collecting from our farm avoids a delivery charge; delivery and laying are quoted on top. |
| Extras | Turf underlay, lawn starter fertiliser or water crystals add to the total. |

Our Family Farm
Where Your Matilda Turf Is Grown and Cut
Every roll of Matilda we sell comes from our family farm at 104 Cornwallis Road, Cornwallis, on the Hawkesbury River. We grow the turf ourselves, maintain it on the farm and only harvest once an order is confirmed, which keeps rolls fresh and moist when they leave. Our family has been growing turf on this land for more than 45 years.
From the farm we serve Greater Sydney and the Hawkesbury, including the Hills District, Western Sydney and Macarthur. Customers can collect in person with our team helping to load, or book delivery six days a week, with turf placed where you want it on site.

How Ordering Matilda Turf Works
Placing a Matilda order with us takes only a few minutes once you have your measurements. The steps below walk through quoting, cutting, collection or delivery so you know exactly what happens and when.
1. Measure your lawn: work out the square metres you need, or send us your measurements to double-check.
2. Choose how you receive it: collect from our farm, book delivery six days a week, or have our crew install it.
3. We cut it fresh: your turf is harvested to order and usually ready within a day or two.
4. Lay and water in: lay it on the day it arrives and water deeply for the first few weeks.
Timing, Access and Weight: What to Plan Before Your Matilda Arrives
Once your quantity is sorted, a few practical details make the day your turf arrives run smoothly.
Choosing the right day. Pick a pickup or delivery day when you, or your installer, can lay the turf straight away. For next-day farm pickup, let us know the day before so your Matilda can be cut in time.
Planning site access. Think about where the truck can park and where you’d like the pallets placed. Our trucks carry forklifts, so we can usually set turf close to where it will be laid.
Forgetting how heavy Matilda is. Fresh turf weighs roughly 15 to 20 kg per square metre, so even a modest lawn adds up quickly. Make sure any trailer or ute you bring for pickup can safely carry the load.
Watering from day one. Plan to soak newly laid Matilda deeply once or twice a day for roughly three weeks. Check that hoses or sprinklers reach every corner before your Matilda is laid.
Frequently Asked Questions About Matilda Turf
How do I order Matilda turf from Arrow Turf?
You can order Matilda turf online or by phone on 0490 779 707. Give us your measurements, preferred date and whether you want pickup, delivery or installation, and we’ll confirm the quantity and quote. Your rolls are then cut fresh to order at our Cornwallis farm.
How far ahead should I place my order?
Most orders are ready within a day or two, but booking a little ahead helps lock in your preferred date. For next-day pickup from the farm, let us know the day before. If you’re working to a builder’s or landscaper’s schedule, tell us early so we can plan the harvest.
What is the difference between Matilda turf and ordinary buffalo?
Matilda turf is an Australian-bred soft leaf buffalo with finer stems and stolons than traditional buffalo. That gives it a softer feel and a denser, more refined look, while still handling wear from busy households and coping with moderate shade.
Can I collect my Matilda order myself?
Yes. Choose a pickup date and time when you order, and our team at Cornwallis will help load your vehicle by hand or with machinery. Remember that fresh turf weighs around 15 to 20 kg per square metre, so check your trailer or ute can carry it.
How should I measure for Matilda turf?
Break your lawn into simple rectangles, measure the length and width of each in metres and multiply to get square metres. Add the totals together, then allow a little extra for edges and curves. If your yard is an awkward shape, send us a sketch and we’ll help.
Do you install Matilda turf as well as supply it?
We do. Our crews can remove the old lawn, level the ground, spread turf underlay, lay your Matilda turf and water it in. Installation suits homeowners who want it done properly the first time, as well as builders and developers handing over finished properties.
What happens if my turf can't be laid on arrival?
Turf should ideally go down the day it arrives. If there’s an unavoidable delay, keep the rolls in shade and lightly moist, and lay them as soon as possible. The best approach is to book your order only once the ground is fully prepared.
Where can I find delivery and aftercare details?
