Why planning matters before the truck arrives
A Turf Delivery Company That Plans Every Load With You
A new lawn goes well when the turf, the ground and the people laying it are all ready at once. Turf is a living product, so ordering too little, too much or on the wrong date can cost you time, money and healthy grass.
As a family-run grower with more than 45 years on the land, we talk through your measurements, sun and shade, and who is laying the lawn before we book a truck. Then we harvest to your date, place the pallets close to the work area and leave you with simple laying and watering notes for the first few weeks.
In short: Arrow Turf grows five turf varieties on its own Hawkesbury River farm and delivers them six days a week. We help you plan the variety, square metres and delivery day. Cost depends on the variety, order size, distance and site access, and orders are usually cut and ready within a day or two.

Planning Your Turf Delivery
Expert Planning From a Turf Delivery Company That Grows Its Own
Most people only buy turf once or twice, so it’s easy to underestimate how much planning a delivery needs. Homeowners want to know how many square metres to order and whether the old lawn needs to go first. Landscapers need pallets to land on a day their crew is free, and builders want the lawn to fit around handover dates. Because fresh turf should be laid on the day it arrives, a poorly timed drop can leave rolls sitting in the sun while the soil is still being prepared.
We start with the questions that shape a good delivery: how big the area is, how much sun it gets, how it will be used and who is laying it. From there we recommend a variety, confirm the quantity and book a day that suits your timeline. Your turf is harvested to order, carried on a truck with its own forklift and set down as close to the lawn area as access allows. Planning Pitfalls
Common Ordering Mistakes Our Delivery Planning Helps You Avoid
Many of the lawn problems we hear about start well before any turf is laid. A little planning with your delivery company heads off these three common issues.
Ordering the wrong quantity. Guessing the area often leaves you a few rolls short at the end of the job or paying for turf you don’t need. We check your measurements and suggest a small allowance for trimming around edges and curves.
Turf arriving before the soil is ready. If the old lawn, levelling or turf underlay isn’t finished, fresh rolls end up waiting on pallets. We book your delivery for the day your preparation is done so laying can start straight away.
Choosing an unsuitable variety. A sun-loving grass planted in heavy shade, or a fine couch in a backyard full of kids and dogs, can struggle from the start. We match the turf to your light, soil and foot traffic before we cut it.

Delivery Company Charges
How Much Does a Turf Delivery Company Charge?
There is no single delivery price because every order is planned around a different lawn. The variety you choose, the number of square metres, how far the truck travels from our farm and how easily it can reach your drop point all shape the total. The table below shows how each of these delivery factors works.
| Price driver | How it affects your cost |
|---|---|
| Turf variety | Kikuyu is the most budget-friendly; soft leaf buffalo and premium couch cost more per m². |
| Order size | Turf is priced per square metre, and larger orders can attract better rates. |
| Delivery location and access | Distance from our farm and how easily the truck can reach your drop point. |
| Extras | Turf underlay, lawn starter fertiliser or water crystals added to your load. |
Send us your measurements and address, and we’ll put together a free quote that covers the turf and the planned delivery.
Where Deliveries Begin
Where Your Planned Turf Delivery Begins
Every delivery starts at our family farm at 104 Cornwallis Road, Cornwallis, on the banks of the Hawkesbury River near Windsor and Richmond. We grow all five of our varieties there, so we know exactly what’s in the paddock when we plan your order.
Turf is cut to suit the delivery day you’ve booked, loaded onto pallets and trucked out with a forklift on board. From Cornwallis we deliver across Greater Sydney and nearby regions, and you can also collect from the farm if you’d rather pick up your order yourself. Many customers find it easiest to book the delivery once their preparation date is locked in.

How We Plan and Deliver Your Turf Order
Good delivery planning comes down to a few clear steps that you can follow from your first call. Here is how a typical order moves from measuring up to laying day.
1. Measure and choose: measure your lawn area and choose a variety, or ask us for advice.
2. Book your delivery: call or order online and pick a delivery day.
3. We cut and deliver: your turf is harvested fresh and placed by forklift where you need it.
4. Lay and water: lay the turf on the day it arrives and water it in; we take the pallets away.
Site and Timing Factors We Plan Around
Beyond the turf itself, a few practical details on your site affect how smoothly a delivery goes.
Tight or awkward access. Narrow driveways, side gates and steep blocks make it harder to set pallets down near the lawn. Tell us about access when you book and we’ll plan the best spot for the forklift to place your turf.
Hot weather on laying day. Turf on pallets warms up quickly in summer heat. We suggest booking an earlier drop when you can and having water ready so each roll is laid and soaked promptly.
Several trades on one site. On renovations and new builds, other work can block the area where pallets need to go. Let us know who else is on site so the delivery lands when the lawn area is clear.
Large or staged projects. Bigger areas may be easier to lay in stages, or with maxi rolls that have fewer joins. We’ll help you split the order sensibly.
Frequently Asked Questions About Our Turf Delivery Company
What makes Arrow Turf a good turf delivery company to plan with?
As a turf delivery company that grows its own grass, we plan your order from the paddock up. We help you choose a variety, confirm the square metres and pick a delivery day that matches your preparation, then cut the turf fresh and place it by forklift.
How do I measure my lawn before booking delivery?
Measure the length and width of each lawn area in metres and multiply them to get square metres, then add the sections together. For curved or odd-shaped areas, send us your measurements or a rough sketch and we’ll help you allow a little extra for trimming.
How far ahead should I book a turf delivery?
As turf is harvested to order, deliveries are normally ready to go within a day or two. Booking a few days ahead gives you more choice of delivery days, which helps when you are coordinating a landscaper, builder or your own weekend.
Can a turf delivery company help me choose the right variety?
Yes. Our turf delivery company grows Sir Walter and Matilda soft leaf buffalo, Kikuyu, Wintergreen couch and Greenlees Park couch, and we’ll ask about sun, shade, soil and foot traffic before recommending one. Advice comes with every order at no extra effort on your part.
What do I need to do before the turf is delivered?
Remove the old lawn and weeds, level the ground and spread around 100 to 150 mm of 80/20 turf underlay. Have a hose or sprinkler ready, because fresh turf should be laid on the day it arrives and watered deeply straight away.
Who removes the pallets after the turf is unloaded?
Our trucks are fitted with forklifts and pallet recovery, so once your turf is unloaded the empty pallets are taken away. That saves you finding a way to dispose of them and keeps the work area clear for laying.
Where else can I learn about your turf and services?
You can compare every grass on our turf varieties page, or read how our turf installation service works if you’d rather our crew prepare the ground and lay the lawn for you. Both pages explain what to expect before you book.
Does a turf delivery company deliver on weekends?
We deliver six days a week, so you can choose a day that suits you, your builder or your landscaper. Ask about available days when you place your order and our turf delivery company team will book the one that lines up with your preparation.
