Turf Delivery Sydney

Short on Space by the Harbour?

Turf Delivery Built for the Lower North Shore

From heritage cottages in Kirribilli to waterfront homes on steep harbour slopes in Mosman, the Lower North Shore has some of Sydney’s trickiest lawn sites. Yards are often small, access is narrow and parking is scarce, so carrying turf from a car or trailer quickly becomes a chore.

Our delivery service is designed around these conditions. We cut your order fresh on the farm, drive it in via the M2 and the Lane Cove Tunnel, and use the truck-mounted forklift to set pallets down as near to your yard as the street allows. You can choose from five varieties, and we take the pallets away afterwards.

In short: Arrow Turf is a family-owned farm at Cornwallis that has grown turf for over 45 years and delivers to the Lower North Shore six days a week. Price drivers include the variety, area, access, parking and steepness of the site. Every order is harvested fresh and is generally ready to deliver a day or two after booking.

Harbourside Delivery Service

Turf Delivery for Lower North Shore Homes

The Lower North Shore takes in harbourside suburbs such as North Sydney, Mosman, Neutral Bay, Cremorne and Lane Cove. Homes range from Federation houses and heritage cottages to large waterfront properties on steep slopes, with apartments and high-rise near North Sydney. Lawns here contend with shallow, sandy soils over Hawkesbury sandstone and shade from mature trees and neighbouring buildings. Because yards are often small and hard to reach, how the turf arrives can matter as much as which grass you choose.

We plan each delivery around the site. Let us know about steep driveways, narrow lanes or parking limits when you order, and our driver will place pallets with the forklift as close as practical, then remove the empty pallets. Fresh rolls are cut to order, so they can be laid on arrival. For larger gardens or strata grounds, maxi rolls reduce joins. Learn more about our turf delivery throughout greater Sydney.

What Delivery Includes

What a Lower North Shore Turf Delivery Can Include

  • Turf cut fresh for your delivery day: we harvest your order to suit your delivery date, so it arrives cool, moist and ready to lay.
  • Forklift placement on site: our trucks are fitted with forklifts, so pallets can be set down close to where you’ll be laying.
  • Pallet recovery: once your turf is unloaded, we take the empty pallets away, leaving nothing behind to clean up.
  • Delivery six days a week: choose a delivery day that suits your project, your builder or your landscaper.
  • Variety and quantity advice: we’ll help you choose the right turf and confirm how many square metres to order, with a small allowance for trimming.
  • Laying and watering guidance: simple instructions on soil prep, laying and first-weeks watering come with every delivery.

Sandstone, Shade and Harbour Slopes Across the Lower North Shore

The landscape that makes the Lower North Shore so attractive also makes lawns harder to grow. Sandstone, slopes and shade are the three most common hurdles.

Shade from trees and buildings. Mature street trees, tall fences and neighbouring apartments can leave lawns in shade for much of the day. Sun-loving Kikuyu is less suited to these spots, so talk to us about the light your yard receives before choosing a variety.

Shallow, sandy soils over sandstone. Thin soils on the foreshores dry out quickly and hold few nutrients. Building up 100 to 150 mm of 80/20 turf underlay gives new roots more to work with and helps hold moisture.

Steep harbourside slopes. On sloping blocks, water runs off before it soaks in and rolls can shift before they knit. Lay across the slope, water deeply and often for the first three weeks, and keep foot traffic off until roots take hold.

Lower North Shore Delivery Costs

How Much Does Turf Delivery Cost on the Lower North Shore?

Delivery pricing on the Lower North Shore reflects the realities of harbourside sites. A flat, open driveway in Lane Cove is a different job from a steep, tightly parked street near the water, so variety, area, access and timing all shape the quote outlined in the table below.

Price driver How it affects your cost
Turf variety Kikuyu is the most budget-friendly; soft leaf buffalo and premium couch cost more per m².
Order size Your turf is priced per square metre, and larger orders can attract better rates.
Delivery location and access Distance from our farm and how easily the truck can reach your drop point.
Extras Turf underlay, lawn starter fertiliser or water crystals added to your load.

How We Deliver Turf to Harbourside Homes

Good planning is the key to a smooth delivery on the Lower North Shore. These four steps explain how we get fresh turf from our farm to your yard, even when access is tight.

1. Measure and choose: measure your lawn area and choose a variety, or ask us to recommend one for your site.

2. Book your delivery: call or order online and pick a delivery day that suits your project.

3. We cut and deliver: your turf is harvested fresh, loaded and delivered, then placed by forklift where you need it.

4. Lay and water: lay the turf on the day it arrives and water it in thoroughly; we take the empty pallets away.

Tight Streets and Limited Parking on the Lower North Shore

Getting a truck close to a harbourside garden can be the hardest part of the job.

Narrow streets and lanes. Many older streets were laid out long before delivery trucks. Tell us about narrow lanes, low branches or tight turns when booking so we can plan the safest route and drop point.

Scarce kerbside parking. Parked cars often line both sides of the road. If you can reserve space out the front on the day, the driver can unload faster and place pallets closer to your gate.

Steep or stepped driveways. Waterfront and hillside homes frequently have steep driveways or stairs to the garden. Our forklift works on firm, reasonably level ground, so we may set pallets at the top for carrying down.

Small yards behind terraces. Terraces and cottages often have rear yards reached only through the house or a lane. Order the exact area you need, and plan a clear path for carrying rolls through.

Frequently Asked Questions About Turf Delivery on the Lower North Shore

Do you provide turf delivery on the Lower North Shore?

Yes. We provide turf delivery across the Lower North Shore, including North Sydney, Mosman, Neutral Bay, Cremorne, Crows Nest and Lane Cove. Turf is cut to order at our Cornwallis farm and delivered six days a week by trucks fitted with forklifts.

Can you deliver to a steep harbourside block?

We deliver to many sloping sites. The forklift needs firm, fairly level ground, so on very steep blocks we place pallets at the top of the driveway or street. Let us know the layout when booking so we can plan the drop.

Which turf suits shady Lower North Shore yards?

Shade from trees and buildings is common here, and sun-loving Kikuyu is not ideal for heavily shaded spots. Tell us how many hours of sun your yard receives, and we can talk through which of our five varieties best suits it.

What if there is no parking outside my home?

Limited parking is common across the Lower North Shore. If possible, keep a space free at the front on delivery day. Otherwise, note any loading zones or lane access in your booking and our driver will work with the space available.

How long does turf take to reach the Lower North Shore?

Our farm at Cornwallis is roughly 1 hour 10 minutes away via the M2 and the Lane Cove Tunnel. Turf is cut to order and usually ready within a day or two, so your Lower North Shore turf delivery arrives fresh for laying.

How do I prepare sandy harbourside soil for new turf?

Remove old grass and weeds, then add around 100 to 150 mm of 80/20 turf underlay to improve moisture and nutrient holding. Level the surface, have water ready, and lay the turf on the day it arrives.

Are your other services available on the Lower North Shore?

Yes. You can drive out for turf pickup for the Lower North Shore, have our crews handle turf installation on the Lower North Shore, or compare grasses through our Lower North Shore turf supplies page.

Do you deliver to strata and commercial sites?

Yes. Our turf delivery on the Lower North Shore covers more than homes: we deliver to property managers, strata buildings, schools and commercial sites across the Lower North Shore. For larger areas, maxi rolls cover more ground with fewer joins. Call 0490 779 707 to talk through access and quantities.

Trevor was fantastic from the very first time I spoke to him. He informed me on every detail , delivery time, watering/care instructions . He made sure the delivery truck didn’t park on my driveway and also marked out my block perfectly- making sure the turf layers got the job done correctly first time. Thank you so much for a truly great experience. The turf looks beautiful
