Rolls Grown and Cut by One Family
Turf Rolls From Our Hawkesbury Farm to Your Yard
Buying turf rolls straight from the grower means you know where your lawn has come from and how fresh it is. We’ve been growing turf at Cornwallis for more than 45 years, and every roll is harvested for a specific order rather than stockpiled. You get turf that’s still full of moisture and ready to root.
Ordering is simple. Pick a variety, send us your measurements and we’ll confirm how many square metres you need. Then choose whether to collect from the farm, book delivery to your door or have our crew lay the rolls for you. Each order comes with practical tips on soil preparation, laying and watering.
In short: Arrow Turf is a family-owned grower selling turf rolls in five varieties to homeowners, landscapers and builders across Greater Sydney. Your price depends on the variety, the square metres, standard or maxi format, and pickup, delivery or installation. Rolls are cut to order and usually ready within a day or two.

Choosing the Right Rolls
Turf Rolls Matched to Your Lawn and Lifestyle
Anyone starting a lawn from scratch or replacing a tired one needs to make two decisions early: which grass suits the yard, and how much of it to buy. Getting either wrong can be costly. A sun-loving couch planted in a shaded side yard will struggle, and running short of rolls halfway through laying leaves exposed soil while you wait for more. Ordering slightly over the measured area also allows for trimming around edges, paths and garden beds. Getting the measurements right before ordering matters just as much as choosing the variety.
We keep the process practical. Our team will talk through sun, shade, foot traffic and how much mowing you’re happy to do, then point you towards Sir Walter, Matilda, Kikuyu, Wintergreen or Greenlees Park. Homeowners usually choose standard rolls, while larger sites benefit from maxi rolls with fewer joins. Whatever you pick, it’s harvested fresh for you. Problems Turf Rolls Fix
Bare Patches, Worn Lawns and New Builds
Fresh turf rolls give you a finished surface on the day they’re laid, which makes them the go-to fix for several common lawn situations.
Patchy, tired old lawns. When weeds and bare spots have taken over, reseeding can take months to show results. Stripping the old lawn and laying new rolls gives you dense, even coverage straight away. It’s also the quickest way to give a tired backyard a fresh start.
Bare soil after building work. New homes and renovations often leave compacted, muddy ground. Once the area is levelled and covered with underlay, rolls stop dust and mud being tracked inside and turn a building site into a usable yard. It’s a common first job for new homeowners.
Erosion on slopes and batters. Loose soil on sloping ground washes away in heavy rain. A thick mat of turf holds the surface together as soon as it’s laid, with roots anchoring it further over the following weeks. That makes rolls a practical choice for batters, mounds and sloping front yards.

Turf Roll Pricing
How Much Do Turf Rolls Cost?
Turf rolls are priced per square metre, so the size of your lawn is the biggest factor. Variety matters too, with Kikuyu at the budget-friendly end and soft leaf buffalo and premium couch higher up. Standard or maxi format, plus pickup, delivery or installation, completes the picture.
| Price driver | How it affects your cost |
|---|---|
| Turf variety | Kikuyu is the most budget-friendly; soft leaf buffalo and premium couch cost more per m². |
| Quantity | Rolls are priced per square metre, and larger orders can attract better rates. |
| Roll format | Maxi rolls suit big areas and are quoted separately from standard rolls. |
| Pickup, delivery or installation | Collecting from our farm avoids a delivery charge; delivery and laying are quoted on top. |

Grown at Cornwallis
Where Our Turf Rolls Are Grown and Harvested
Every roll comes from our family farm at 104 Cornwallis Road, Cornwallis NSW 2756, on the Hawkesbury River near Windsor and Richmond. We grow our own turf there and harvest it to order, so it hasn’t been sitting on a pallet for days before it reaches you.
Once cut, rolls are stacked on pallets for pickup at the farm or loaded onto our delivery trucks, which run six days a week. We supply homes and businesses across Greater Sydney, including the Hills District, Western Sydney, the Northern Beaches and the Sutherland Shire, as well as the Blue Mountains, Wollongong and the Central Coast.

How Ordering Turf Rolls Works
From the first measurement to the moment your rolls are ready, we keep every part of the order simple and clear. These four steps show how a typical turf roll order comes together on our farm.
1. Measure your area: work out the square metres you need, with a little extra for trimming.
2. Pick your variety: choose from our five turf varieties, or ask us which suits your site.
3. Book your order: call or order online and choose pickup, delivery or installation.
4. Lay it fresh: lay your rolls on the day they arrive and water them in thoroughly.
Getting Quantity, Timing and Handling Right
Plenty of new lawns go wrong for reasons that have nothing to do with the grass itself.
Ordering too few rolls. Irregular yards are easy to underestimate. Send us your measurements or a rough sketch and we’ll confirm the square metres so you have enough to finish in one go.
Turf rolls left stacked too long. Turf is a living product and starts to deteriorate once it’s rolled. Plan to lay it on the day it arrives, which is why we cut to order rather than holding stock.
Misjudging how heavy rolls are. Fresh turf weighs roughly 15 to 20 kg per square metre, so a full pallet is heavy. Our trucks use forklifts to place it where you want, and at pickup our team helps you load.
Laying on poor soil. Rolls laid straight onto compacted clay struggle to root. A layer of 80/20 underlay at around 100 to 150 mm gives the new lawn drainage and nutrients.
Frequently Asked Questions About Turf Rolls
Which turf rolls do you sell?
We sell turf rolls in five varieties: Sir Walter and Matilda soft leaf buffalo, Kikuyu, Wintergreen couch and Greenlees Park couch. Each is grown on our Hawkesbury farm and harvested to order. Standard rolls suit home lawns, and maxi rolls can be arranged for large areas.
What's the difference between standard and maxi rolls?
Standard rolls are easy to handle and suit most home lawns, side yards and nature strips. Maxi rolls are much larger, covering more ground per piece with fewer joins, which speeds up laying and gives a cleaner finish on big sites such as parks, schools and commercial grounds.
How do I work out how many turf rolls I need?
Measure the length and width of each lawn area, multiply to get square metres, then add the areas together. Allow a little extra for trimming around curves and edges. If your yard is irregular, send us your measurements and we’ll confirm the quantity before we cut.
How fresh are your turf rolls?
Very fresh. We don’t stockpile rolls; each order is harvested on our farm and is usually ready within a day or two. That means the turf you receive is still full of moisture and ready to root into your prepared soil.
Which variety is best for a busy family yard?
Kikuyu is hard-wearing, repairs itself quickly and is budget-friendly, making it a favourite for large, sunny family yards. If you’d prefer something softer underfoot, Sir Walter or Matilda soft leaf buffalo are popular choices. Our team can help you weigh up the options.
Can I pick up turf rolls from your farm?
Yes. Order your turf rolls online or by phone, pick a collection date and time, and tell us the day before if you’d like them ready tomorrow. Our team will help get the rolls onto your vehicle by hand or machinery. You can also read about turf pickup from our farm or turf delivery across Sydney.
When should I lay my turf rolls?
Lay your turf rolls on the day they arrive. Rolled turf deteriorates the longer it sits on the pallet, so leaving it overnight risks yellowing patches. Have your soil prepared and underlay spread before pickup or delivery so you can start straight away.
How do I care for new turf rolls?
Water deeply once or twice a day for about the first three weeks, keeping the soil beneath consistently moist. Stay off the lawn as much as possible while roots establish, and make the first mow after two to three weeks on a high setting. Simple aftercare tips come with every order.
